Shakti Community Council is a non-profit organisation serving migrant and refugee women of Asian, African and Middle Eastern origin. Shakti; meaning strength; works to have a world where women and children are empowered to live a life of dignity free from fear and violence and are able to exercise their rights, choices and responsibilities.
We endeavour to facilitate and ensure safety and overall well-being of all women, young women and children through strategic intervention measures aimed at eliminating all forms of oppression and gender-based violence.
Led by ethnic women for ethnic women, Shakti is dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights of both women and children and advocating social change.
Shakti provides culturally specialist, confidential support services to women and their children of Asian, African and Middle Eastern origins.
